Finding Your Simplicity

“I feel that the simplicity of life is just being yourself.”

~Bobby Brown

What is the true meaning of simplicity? Most would say something along the lines reaching a point of zen peacefulness. However, is that really what it means to be truly simple?

When you look at the picture above you would think it as a simple picture of a forest, but is it really that simple? There are so many things going on with that picture. You have plants, dirt, micro-organisms, and who knows what else. That seems hardly simple. So how can we know what the true meaning of simplicity is?

When I was looking around for the meaning of simplicity I ended up finding a bunch of different ideas to what it means to be simple. They were all good ideas. However, I don’t think they really defined what I felt was true simplicity. So after much thought this is what I concluded: The true meaning of simplicity is to be yourself and do what you love for the sake of others including yourself. Just like in that picture each thing in it is living to be itself and doing so to the fullest. This process of being yourself and giving of yourself unto others may be difficult, but you can do it. And to help you get started here are a few simple things you can do:

  • When you wake up look in the mirror and smile.
  • Tell yourself that you are important and that you are here to help others with your unique skills and talents.
  • And lastly, just laugh out loud.

Remember the path of simplicity is not instantaneous, but a journey. So don’t rush it. And eventually you will find your own simplicity.

“Simple in actions and in thoughts, you return to the source of being”

~Lao Tzu
